OUR STORY

Moka began in India, during my yoga travels. In Mysore, I came across these everyday baskets, used at the market, to carry lunch, for daily routines. I loved how practical and strong they were, but also full of color. It made sense to share something so useful in India, and let it become part of daily life elsewhere too.

These weaving techniques are passed down from mother to daughter. My role has never been to change them, but to support them, to preserve their authenticity, their rhythm and their gestures, while ensuring fair and sustainable pay. The goal is not to standardize, but to honor this craft exactly as it is.

MOKA brings together my first name, Monika, and my family name, Karapetian, a quiet way of honoring my Armenian roots. Creating a bridge between my love for Indian culture, my yoga journeys, and my eye for beautiful, meaningful pieces feels like a true gift.
By choosing a MOKA bag, you support women artisans who are paid fairly and help give new value to recycled plastic in India. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for supporting this human, purpose-driven project.
With love, care and deep gratitude, I welcome you into the world of MOKA.
